A sun is a source. It gives without being asked and returns without being called. Every person in a lineage carries one.
Covered Suns exists so that light is named, fed and protected across a whole life. Prayer, ancestral practice, parenting infrastructure and sovereign conditioning. One ecosystem, tuned to a single life from age three to ninety-nine.
A sun makes its own light. Covered Suns is named for every person who does.
The Governing Principle
Covered Suns is a wholeness preservation system for Black families, rooted in the ancestral traditions of the Yoruba, Akan, Kemetic, Dagara and Gullah Geechee peoples. Daily prayer. Ancestral identity. Parenting as practice. Discipline as devotion. One ecosystem, built so that no child's wings are clipped by a world that did not build them.
The Three Frequencies
One house. Three rooms.
Every product in the ecosystem operates at one of three frequencies. The frequencies are temperatures, not categories. A morning that begins with a prayer and continues with a training session is a morning that runs two of them in sequence. Such a sequence is the ecosystem working as designed.
The Sacred
Prophetic. Candlelit. Steady rather than urgent.
Daily prayer, water ritual, breath practice and somatic recovery. Five minutes of real intention, repeated until it accumulates into a life. The Sacred frequency leads with divinity and lets everything else gather around it.

The Practice
One year. Four seasons. Seven centers.
Every work in the house runs on one framework. A year of daily prayer and micro-ritual, organized by season, aligned to the seven centers of the body, which this house calls by their Yoruba names. Five minutes of real intention is enough. Do it every day and watch what accumulates.
Days
One prayer and one micro-ritual for every day of the year. Light a candle. Place your hands on his shoulders. Speak three words aloud. These are anchors.
Seasons
You speak in Winter's stillness and in Summer's fire. You tend a creative life in Spring and sharpen inner sight in Fall. Every word is placed on purpose.
Centers
Seven places in a body, each with something to teach, arranged from the ground to the sky. Named in Yoruba, so the vocabulary belongs to the one who speaks it.

The Parenting Thesis
Preserve wholeness. Feed the light.
A child who knows he is divine but has not been trained to be excellent is protected only in his own heart. A child who has been trained to be excellent but does not know he is divine is performing for a world that will never be satisfied. Both are necessary. Therein, lies the ecosystem.
Parenting in this house is technology. A prayer repeated daily until it changes the person praying is technology. A table set weekly until the child stops needing to be called is technology. A playlist of discipline and commitment played while a young man trains is technology.
What it transmits is wholeness: the prayer, the ancestor, the table, the discipline, the body and the voice that says your name before anyone else does.
What threatens the sun
Racism clips wings. Deficit narratives teach a child he is behind before he has started. Disconnection from the body turns stress into disease. Disconnection from ancestors turns identity into something earned rather than inherited.
Covered Suns does not address these wounds by naming them as the subject. It preserves the wholeness that makes them survivable, the way a tree does not heal a wound so much as it keeps growing until the wound is inside the trunk.
Racism is weather. Divinity is the sun.

The Author
Dr. Nikka Lemons
Author · Scholar · Community Architect · Founder
Dr. Nikka Lemons came out of Milwaukee's 53206, one of the most incarcerated zip codes in the country. Her mother worked land she did not own. One generation later the daughter holds a doctorate in how land ownership was arranged, and she builds instruments so that the arrangement changes.
Her scholarship names harm at an evidentiary standard a hostile reviewer could test. Her dissertation applied the United Nations Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes to United States spatial policy against African Descendants of American Slavery and found the three elements in sequence, performed by named obligors, observable in records the obligors themselves produced. From that work she coined resilience debt, the cumulative deficit absorbed by communities stripped of protective infrastructure, and the rehumanization deficit, the civic capacity lost when a population administers harm and is never carried through a process restoring it.
Her operating history runs a $160 million capital bond, five divisions, a transportation collapse absorbed without a child missing school and more than $8 million returned to a school district within three months through a contracting review. She authored Policy 0040, an equity accountability framework adopted by Seattle Public Schools, King County, the City of Seattle and a statewide charter sector. It still governs a district she left.
Through the Covered Suns imprint she translates that same conviction into daily practice. She draws on the Yoruba, Akan, Kemetic, Dagara and Gullah Geechee traditions, placing ancestral wisdom inside a wholeness preservation system that a whole family can hold, from the youngest child learning his name to the eldest guardian who has covered three generations. She is also a parent, building the Sovereign frequency of this ecosystem in real time for her own Sun, because the work is personal before it is a product.
A name spoken in love, she believes, becomes its own form of protection.
